SUNNYFIELD TO ACQUIRE ENDEAVOUR INDUSTRIES DISABILITY SERVICES
Friday 2 November, 2018
Sunnyfield is set to acquire the disability services division of Endeavour Industries (EGA) by the end of November.
Operating in the NSW Hunter region for the past 50 years, EGA was placed into voluntary administration in June this year.
The acquisition will see EGA, together with Sunnyfield, continue to provide disability support services to more than 200 clients. Almost 100 staff will have the opportunity to remain in stable and meaningful employment.
Sunnyfield will work closely with clients, families/guardians and EGA staff to ensure the smoothest possible transition, with a business-as-usual focus.
Some minor adjustments will be necessary, including seeking Fair Work Commission approval to cease the current EGA Enterprise Agreement, meaning staff will work under the standard Award applicable to the broader sector. Given that this is necessary for the long-term viability of the services division, the transitioning staff have already voted in favour of the change.
“We’re pleased to bring this positive news amidst what has been a difficult time for so many people involved with EGA,” Sunnyfield CEO Caroline Cuddihy said.
“We respect that EGA staff have created positive differences in the lives of people with disability within their communities and we’re proud to have an opportunity to carry that tradition forward.
“We extend a very warm welcome to EGA staff, clients, families and carers and look forward to strengthening and adding value to the important services provided.”
Sunnyfield said the acquisition is a strong strategic fit for its operations in the Central Coast and New England and other NSW/ACT regions.
Sunnyfield emphasised that is it only able to acquire EGA’s disability services division and not the EGA social enterprise services. Sunnyfield’s thoughts remain with clients and staff in the social enterprise business.
