Vale Bryan Whiddon OAM

Sunnyfield is feeling the loss of our Patron Bryan Whiddon OAM, who passed away on 29 March 2024.

Bryan had been made an Honorary Life Member for the tremendous contribution he made to our organisation over seven decades.

We would not be the organisation we are today without his energy, ideas, professionalism and commitment to people with disability and their families.

Sunnyfield began with the initiative of Bryan’s parents, Hazel and Fred Whiddon, who brought together 18 other like-minded mothers and fathers who wanted to create a better life for their children, like Bryan’s brother Trevor. 

Bryan went on to serve Sunnyfield in many roles, including as Chair.

The family’s record of service to Sunnyfield continues through his daughter, Melissa Hammel, a member of our Board of Directors, and his grandson Thomas Perrett as an Associate of the Board’s Audit, Finance and Risk Committee.

Our thoughts are with Bryan’s family and all who knew and served with him throughout his life.
