Supported Employee Spotlight: Meet Peter

Supported Employee Spotlight: Meet Peter

August 11, 2022

After working for 42 years as a Process Worker, Peter says it’s the people that make coming to work a breeze.

Peter is the sort of colleague we all hope to encounter – welcoming, kind and always looking out for the new kid on the block. Well known amongst his colleagues as a dependable friend, Peter is always looking after the other employees at Sunnyfield Mount Druitt and ensuring new employees have someone to sit with at lunchtime. After working for 42 years as a Process Worker, Peter says it’s the people that make coming to work a breeze. “I love working with all the staff and employees. We all get along very very well here – it’s quite nice. That’s why I came to work at Sunnyfield. I met a lot of my friends here and I love seeing them each day.”

Over the years Peter has built a resume of skills that he is proud of. From learning how to work the pallet jack to understanding the effects of temperature and humidity levels on certain products and best practices to maintain them. But what he is most proud of is his advancement in communication. “I’ve improved my communication skills a lot. It’s something I’m always trying to improve. Last year we had training on how to work better as a team and how to communicate. I really liked the training.”

When asked what the best part of working at Sunnyfield is, it was an easy answer. The Sports Camp. “It’s so much fun. We all go away for 2 nights and play lots of sports and have a themed dance night. My favourite is the tug-of-war.”
